This past weekend, we went to Christiansborg Palace, which is actually my winter home in Denmark. (Surprise, I’m Danish royalty!) Okay, maybe that’s a stretch, but I am still on my search for a Danish prince.
Although no one of status lives in the palace at the moment, it is still a very active part of Danish culture. Situated right in the heart of Old Copenhagen (a six minute walk from my house), it is now home to Parliament, the Supreme Court, and the Prime Minister’s office!
Much interesting history surrounds Christiansborg Palace. Its earliest version was a small castle built by Bishop Absalon, and those ruins can still be toured underneath the current castle!
After the creepy old ruins, it was off to the palace itself! We had to put on blue slipper foot covers, so as not to scuff the floors or dirty the royal carpets.
There were many beautifully decorated rooms with chandeliers, red velvet wallpaper, ornate golden door frames, giant couches, and classic art pieces. Everything looked regal. Casey used her high-power camera to take some photos to capture the atmosphere, and she caught me in one as well!
The take home message: I am a princess, and one day I will live in a castle just like this one, but better.
